Update

To All,

How is everyone doing? Sorry I haven't been very active on the board. But I wanted to give you an update on my pregnancy.

For those of you who are new to the board: I am a 35 year old female with PCOS and IR. I am assuming that I have had this for years, but I was not diagnosed until 6/2000. At that time the dr. put me on MET to start the treatment. Please note that I hadn't had my period in years (maybe once or twice). In August of 2000 we started the process to get pregnant. The first month the dr. tried Clomid (which in my system was like taking water) nothing happened.

For Sept. the dr. decided to put me on injections. Now remember I have not ovulated in years, my periods where maybe once a year if that, and I have PCOS and IR. Well we started the injections. We went through alot of up and downs, and my cycle lasted three weeks before there was two eggs ready to be ovulated by an HCG shot. After the HCG shot we did two insemiantions in a row and on Oct. 11 2000 I found out I was pregnant. Unbelievable. Excited and scared.

I am now 27 weeks a long, becasue of my IR, I now have gestional diabetes. I must have insulin three times a day, and the dr. is monitoring the baby to make sure he doesn't get to big. Things have been touch and go. I have bled twice during this pregnancy, why no one knows. But so far everything is okay.

I am scheduled for an u/s on the 21st of march to see how big the baby has gotten since Jan. I am really excited, but most of all I want to let women out there know that with the right dr. and diagnosis you can have your dream.

I have had two children before, when my body was doing what it was suppose to. I had a stillborn in 1985 and then I had a son in 1989 premature at 33 weeks, but he is now a healthy 12 year. My problems actually started after I had my son. My periods started acting up, and I had gone to at least 6 drs. All said I was overweight and that was the reasoning of me not being able to get pregnant. Until I finally went to Yale University in New Haven.

I am so happy with this dr. we are thinking of trying again. Of course because of my age it will be sooner then I probably wanted to. But with PCos and IR it gets worse as you get older and it will be harder to get pregnant. So I think when this baby turns about 8 mths, we will start to try again.

If anyone has any questions about my treatment feel free to email me at home.
