Glucophage XR QuestionFrom: Emily (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 8 Mar 2001 18:40:26 -0600 (CST)
Hi Ladies! I have been taking 1000 mg of Glucophage twice a day for about 8 months and doing great. I ran out of my presciption and because I have it filled at a University Health Center ( whick is closed this week for spring break) I called my DR to see if I could have some samples untill I could get the perscription refilled on Monday. Well, all they had were the Glucophage XR tablets and they said I could take those instead but the DR said to only take 500 mg twice a day. Why would he half the dose? Does this sound right? I have been doing so well on 2000 mg a day that I concerned this might screw me up. Does anyone have any info on this? They did give me enough samples to last if I took 2000 mg a day untill Monday --Should I stick with the same dose or cut it in half? The nurse seemed really confused when she told me all this and I even had her verify it but I'm still confused. Help!
-- Emily
