I sometimes have "bouts" of serious depression. I have mood swings anyway but when the depression kicks in, it digs its heels! I think the depression is initially caused by the hormonal imbalance as a result of the pcos but the pcos symptoms only aggrivate the depression further, being a bit of a vicious circle. If there are meds involved too then the depression can either improve or become very extreme.
