Re: mood swings + decreased sex driveFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 5 Mar 2001 14:22:15 -0600 (CST)
both of those medications are notorious for killing sex drive. BCPs turn off ovarion production of tesosterone (in theory) and this would naturally decrease sex drive in some people (i say some because some women don't get this effect.) aldactone does not turn off production of testosterone, but it does block the effect it has on your body. i don't recall if aldactone did anything to my sex DRIVE persay but it did a lot for my ... sexual enjoyment. let's just say it made me pretty numb from the waist down. coupled with the nasty bleeding effects aldactone had on me, i decided it wasn't worth it to be on such a medication i was wary of in the first place (risk of birth defects means having to go off ot eventually... and all the hair would come back anyway.) so... it very well could be the pills causing your problem. you'll have to decide if the benefits make the drawbacks worth it in your case. :)
