Re: aldactone and birth defectsFrom: Dona (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Mar 2001 12:31:00 -0600 (CST)
I know that spiro can cause birth defects and should not be taken if TTC. Isnt Aldactone the same Medication? Spiro causes feminization of male genitals. I dont know what it does to female fetus. Ask your Doctor though if your trying to concieve. I know my doctor told me NOT to take spiro and will put me on Birth control pills if I do want to take it. He was also against me using Vaniqa cream while TTC because it is a class C medication and they dont know if it causes birth defects or not...it is still to new and unfortunaly like with DES and Philidamide (SP)...these drugs were not known to cause birth defects untill babies were being born with tragic results. So please be careful if your trying to get pregnant and consult your doctor!! *HUGS* Dona > >Hi there - > >I'm just curious.
