char, it is my personal opinion that ALL women with PCOS have IR. i just think that in some woman the condition has not progressed to a point where it is detectable. If i am wrong than all the studies pointing to the defective gene are incorrect. i truely believe that genetics are the culprit in this condition, so i have to believe that all women with PCOS, also have IR. even if they test negative, the tendancy for the cells to be somewhat insulin resistant is there (in my opinion). otherwise, low-carbing wouldn't work, neither would insuln sensitizers.

hope this helps =)

love, paula
