pcos and pco?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 2 Mar 2001 11:41:12 -0600 (CST)
Hi, i am confused with my diagnosis. I had an us scan a few weeks ago which showed cystic ovaries and wherby my specialist diagnosed pcos. hOWEVER my blood resullts showed that my FSH and LH were normal. I thought the elevated LH levels caused the cysts to develop? My prolactin has been high but is now down to normal now and i had a random thyroid function test which also came back normal. However i have been suffering very irregular and somewhat heavy prolonged periods and twice when i had the 7dpo progesterone levels bloods taken it showed i possibly had not ovulated. I have done OPK's which show the LH surge along with my bbt and cm. I have detected my fertile CM which tends to coincide with my postive OPK but i only get a slight rise with my BBT on assumed post ovulation. So my questions are if all my bloods tests came back normal, what other cause could attribute to cystic ovaries? since my progesterone levels were low, could it also have meant i could of ovulated and a minimal bbt be the cause of low progesterone? I am ttc unsuccessfully at the moment. I have upper lip facial hair, am not obese and thats it along with an irregular cycle. I thought that this was possibly a common indicator of pcos or pco but i am now left confuses as to why i should have these cysts when my results are normal. Can anyone enlighten me, i feel at a loss? Many thanks
