I am not sure if they are related, but I'll share my experience. Prior to my husband's diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes, I was constatnly getting yeast infections. I could not figure out why. Now that he has his sugar levels within the normal range we are both feeling MUCH better. It sure seems like they could be related but perhaps someone out there can give you some more info.
