Blood test results

I was diagnosed with PCOS a year ago. Since then I have monitored everything pretty closely. My insulin levels were high but blood sugar was fine so I went on Met. Now...my insulin is ok but blood sugar is a little high. My lipids and cholesterol are high. So my doc wants me to go on a high carb, low fat diet. The thing is...that goes against most PCOS advice. What do you think? My sister had cholesterol over 300 in her 20's...mine is currently 238 and everyone in my family has high cholesterol (regardless of weight issues).

Thanks for any advice!
