Re: Is it safe to continue Electrolysis while Pregnant? From: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Feb 2001 09:00:45 -0600 (CST)
i don't know about the safety of electrolysis while pregnant, but if the only "treatment" you are on is clomid, there's probably no point in getting it done in the first place. clomid does NOT treat PCOS. it chemically induces ovulation. have you tried other methods of lowering your androgen levels? aldactone and bcps are both out if you want to get preg, but metformin sometimes helps reduce andorgens, which will make electrolysis more effective. after you deliver, you might want to consider the other treatments in conjunction with electrolysis if needed. getting electrolysis without treating the hormone problems is a lost cause... as i painfully learned... that said... many women find electolysis to be a waste of time anyway. the new laser treatments are supposed to be far, far better, and while they may cost more per session, the might be cheaper over all as you need fewer treatments and supposedly, they last.
