Re: more veggie low carb stuffFrom: jodi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Feb 2001 17:33:14 -0600 (CST)
on second thought maybe that page isn't quiet as useful as i hoped. :) it has a list of low carb veggie proteins but most of them are brand name type foods... which is fine, if you have the money to buy them... but i personally need some more common food type suggestions. there is a food co-op near here which i would like to frequent more but the grocery store just seems to be cheaper... in my heart i'd rather support the co-op than the big chains but my wallet's kinda thin these days. regardless of if you find that site useful - there are recipes but i haven't looked yet- there ARE lots of links to low carb recipes (veggie or otherwise) on the soulcysters site. (i am not connected to that site in any way... it just happens to have lots of good info and articles) also, i don't know if i have mentioned but i have ordered the schwarzbein principle vegetarian cookbook (as well as the schwarzbein book) from amazon... i'm still waiting for them to come in the mail. hopefully they will prove useful. if so, i will let you know. i kind of feel like maybe i was a little snappish or something at downplaying the idea of veganism or something... i don't know. i don't want you to feel like i've offended you or anything. i'm really still sitting on the fence myself here. even though i sucessfully ate chicken yesterday, now i am paranoid about the hormones that might be in chicken... and generally feeling afraid to eat much of anything. today i've had shredded wheat & bran with soymilk, and tabouleh with tofu in it. i feel like i am eating too many carbs, even if they are low GI carbs. all in all i'm feeling pretty damn confused about this whole thing... and thinking giving up vegetarianism isn't going to work so well for me after all. blah. - jodi
