Re: IM-UR spam??From: Zowie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 27 Feb 2001 14:43:24 -0600 (CST)
Hi Jodi, I have never heard of this, however, I too had problems with getting mail when I first started posting on here. I would get annoying "auto messages" from people who somehow were SUSBSCRIBED to receive an email of each and every post that is posted on these boards (why someone would do that I have no idea since they can just look online at any time). If these people were "out of the office", I'd receive an auto mess. If they were "going to respond soon" (and never did), I'd get an auto mess. (mess. = message). It got so annoying that I contacted the webmaster of this forum and was told to leave my email address as ANONYMOUS to prevent receiving these annoying emails in the first place. Since then, I don't have a problem. Your email address shows as brdmadgrrl@aol.com, however, how these people got your OTHER email address is quite suspicious. Perhaps whoever subscribes to this "list" of posts may have tracked you down. You can create mail filters to prevent people from emailing you with any email program. Perhaps it's time to put that to use. Also, with reporting this junk or "spam" mail, I always look at the headers and forward it to the "Postmaster@" of the address in which it was sent from. Example, if the email came from "anonymous@obgyn.net", then forward it to "Postmaster@domain.net". If that doesn't work (you may get it returned), "Webmaster@" is always a good one. Apparently someone is being sneaky and was able to track down your other email address and knows of your participation on this board. Personally, I would use the "leave email anonymous" option if I were you. Good luck.
