Hi Paula,

I've just bought "Take Charge of your Fertility" by Toni Weschler - it is SO good at explaining things. One thing she stresses is that the "constant" factor is that women start their period approximately 14 days after ovulation (although this may vary in individual women by a day or two). This means that if you have a long cycle you will ovulate later - eg if your cycle is 35 days you probably ovulated on day 21.

People often quote day 14 as the day of ovulation - but this is assuming the average 28 day cycle - which a lot of women - and particularly PCOS women - just don't have.

Another thing she says - most people can't PREDICT ovulation by using BBT - they can only tell AFTER it's happened. BBT is still really useful for showing you what's going on, whether you're ovulating etc, but for most women it's useless for predicting ovulation - she describes how to check your cervical mucus and position of the cervix (not sure if I'll do that one!!) to predict ovulation.

I really wish I'd bought this book a year ago - by now I would have so much information about my cycles!
