Re: PCOS and hysterectomy?From: anonymous (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 20 Feb 2001 18:37:19 -0600 (CST)
Hi Tj, look back a couple of months in the forum and I believe there are a couple of postings from woman who have benifited from a complete hysterectomy. If your done having children then maybe its an option for you. Have you talked to a Doctor about it yet? also wont you have to go on hormone replacement therapy such a Estrogen? A friend of mine just had one and she is taking hormones now..she also had to take a class before the proceedure given by her HMO (I think it was Kiser California). I am still trying to have my first child so I have not conscidered this yet...but I am 35 and if it dosent happen before 40 I just might have it all removed. But you have to remember that even though you remove the overies...you still can be affected by PCOS because it is an Endocrine disorder and you still can have IR and weight problems but I have read that usually the excess free testosterone problem is eliminated. read up on it and talk to you doc "PCOS The Hidden Epidemic"By Dr. Samuel Thatcher talks a bit about this subject.. it's a great book. Why can't you take Actos or Met (just curious)? *Hugs*
