Okay, ((Disclaimer – yes – my fingers hurt after typing this message – it’s LONG – sorry)) I started that diet in the archives ((that my Endo gave me in July)) again on Monday Feb 12, 01. Although I am shocked to see it my scale this morning reads that I have lost 5 lbs. ... I want to be excited but I am reigning in my enthusiasm because I don't trust the scale... That probably sounds dumb but both times I have tried the high protein diets in the past I did not lose any weight. Besides - lets be frank, at my weight I seem to go up and down 5 lbs. in a day. I hate that - it's also why I don't trust the scale. As it is we had to get one that reads "over 300lbs” Good Lord that still shocks me when I write it. 300 lbs. I thought that weight was reserved for people who were so big they couldn't leave the house. I just don't "feel" inside like I am that big on the outside. Does any one else who is big know what I mean??? Okay I'm getting off topic. What I wanted to know is what do I do when I go out to dinner tomorrow night? The low Carb diet I am on allows me to eat veggies at every sitting provided I've had 8 oz of meat first. I can have tea with equal and diet soda so I am good there. Although I am supposed to eat a piece of fruit after each meal - and I don't think bananas are on the menu - plus I am going with a group of folks so I don't want to pull one out of my purse like a freak. The place we are going (Bennigan’s) has this really great salad that I love but it has Chicken fingers on it - breaded & probably not 8 oz worth. Plus the dressing (honey ranch) I shouldn't have. Plus the 12 grain roll - w/ honey butter - shouldn't have that. Now - I know I should order an 8 oz sirloin ith side of veggies and just forgo the fruit. What I want to know is this - If I have the Salad that I want hat ill suddenly eating the processed carbs and sugars do to me?? I mean it doesn't sound like THAT much carbs/sugar but I know it will be out of line with what I've been doing this week - and as much as I hate meat, I know I need to do this for my insulin and weight. So help - Can I have the Salad with southern fried chicken strips, ranch dressing and a roll??? {{I would usually get a potato skin appetizer or potato soup & a desert of apple crumb pie and cinnamon ice cream when I go to this restaurant - which I have already decided to forgo..)) So really it's the chicken salad or the steak. I'm sorry this is so long guys. And that I seem to be jumping about. I guess I am just a little bummed out that I have to make this much effort to not feel like a freak when I go out to a going away dinner for friends. Love you guys, Kals
