i have finally kicked my diet pepsi addiction... but i wasn't addicted for the taste ( i think diet pop tastes like battery acid) ... i needed the caffeine... have you tried drinking herbal tea? i used to drink it with TONS of equal but after forcing myself to drink it plain for a while, i got to preferring it that way. i especially like the kind you don't need to brew in hot water... i carry around a quart nalgene bottle (they're these wonderful bottles that are break proof and leak proof and stand up to heat and everything... they're great for backpacking...) which i will toss a couple tea bags in, fill with water, and stick in my bookbag... peppermint is one of my faves, as are just about anything from celestial seasonings... you only need to use like 2 teabags for a quart of water when you do this. another thing i have come to like that i used to think was gross is flavored seltzer. not SWEETENED... just flavored. the zero cal stuff. it MILDLY tastes like cherry, orange, or raspberry, and it's delightfully fizzy. i used to drink this sparkling water stuff from walmart which is fizzy and fruity and sweetened with aspartame... but i really feel weird putting weird chemicals into my body. i have come to really prefer the unsweetend selzter water. but it took a while of forcing myself to come to enjoy these things. i don't think there really is a cure for a sweet tooth... i think you just need to cut the things you shouldn't be consuming cold turkey, and maybe find completly harmless substitutes. (at least, i hope unsweetened herbal tea and seltzer are harmless!!! i hope the little bit of flavor they do have doesn't affect insulin levels...) - jodi
