1 month on met and... nothing

my hopes of metformin helping me are dwindling... if they haven't burned out already. i have been on 1500mgs a day for 4 weeks now and i have had NOTHING... no side effects, no positive effects. my period should have come 2 weeks ago and it didn't. i am basing this on how it settled into an every 6 week pattern for a while... but i only had 4 of these so i guess i shouldn't have figured that. before that, i had no periods from april till spetember.

the single thing i have noticed is my sex drive has become nil. i thought it was due to the met but the more i think about it, the more i think it's just cuzed i've stopped cycling again... last summer i noticed i had no sex drive, too. i think it's due to that and not the met...

i guess i am going to call my doctors office today and ask if i should do anything... i don't have an appointment again till april 20th. she sent me home with the met prescription and instructions to get blood drawn 3 days after a period just before coming back so we can see how things are... especially my 17-hydroxyprogesterone level as that was elevated... since my DHEAS and androsterone (sp) were normal she didn't THINK it was an adrenal problem, but she said if the 17-hydroxyprogesterone was still high then we'd do a dex test and see... since my insulin was high (19, fasting, to a glucose of 82) she thought i'd be a good candidate for met...

but like i said, i've been on it a month now, and nothing at all has happened. i've lost hope for it... after looking forward to trying it so much!!!!

has anyone else had it take that lond to do anything?? i'm not feeling any signs at all of ovulating so i know that even from this point, if i were to ovulate right now, i won't be getting a period for at least 2 more weeks... that'll be 10 weeks since my last... it's rather frustrating.

and the hair is getting worse...

has anyone else here been treated for an adrenal component of PCOS and was your treatment successful?? i really dread it being adrenal for some reason... the thought of taking steroids and gaining weight terrifies me as i'm already overweight (160 at 5'4)... but i guess it'd be better than staying on a medication that isn't doing anything at all...

*sigh*

like i said, i'm gonna call my doctor today but i wondered if anyone else either had met take a looooong time to kick in, or has had adrenal components treated...
