Doctors dont seem to care, could anybody help me??From: emma (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 15 Feb 2001 04:58:05 -0600 (CST)
Hi everybody I am 22 yrs old and have been diagnosed as having pcos since I was 16. I have been to doctors endocinologist and top gyni doctors, but at every turn have not been helped. I am quite over weight, and dont have really any periods to speak of ( if I do get one it may be one that is close to a hemorrage or it will last at least a month and eventually will have to be treated with progesterone tablets) It is the first time that I have visited the site, and I am really impressed. I found the site as i came back from a routine check up at the top gyni specialist at my local hospital with my heart sinking. He had sat me down and didnt even bother looking at my notes told me (as he was taking into consideration my weight and the fact that I have insulin resistance) that i wouldnt live to see twenty six, he told me that my kdneys and liver would give up, my eye sight would go and that I would suffur from blood clotting and eventually would end up having a stroke!! As you can imagine I was heart brocken, and once he had said all this then signed me off the list, so i am now left with no help in coping with this, no treatment, and the feeling that no one cares. The question is really what do I do next, any information, thoughts or advice that people could give me would be really appreciated. I am stretching out a hand can somebody help????
