Hi, i wonder if anyone can help me. \I have just been diagnosed with PCOS from an U/S which showed multiple follicles consistant with PCOS. Apart from experiencing irregular periods i do not generally have any of the other symptoms. I am not obese, nor do i have acne, however i have slight upper lip hair which is removed. I have noticed my hair grows quicker and my eyebrows have become more dense and thicker but they are plucked. In the last three years or so, i have also noted my pubic hair becoming thicker and even my buttock was getting hairy with a few stray hairs developing on my abdomen. Any excess hair is waxed though so unless i did not use hair removals, of course i would be hairier. But i would not say that i have acute increaseness of hair compared to some PCOS sufferers. My Gran, my mum and my sister have or had a slight moustache and certainly my gran even had hair on her chin but we all have very dark hair anyway. My menstrual cycle has always been irregular, or certainly between 5-6 weeks. They have become more irractic the last year between 5-8 weeks since my dh and myself are ttc of which for 10 months or so. On occasions my periods have lasted between 7-10days in length, heavy and clotty. The last few cycles however have become shorter between 7-9days and 5-6weeks between each cycle and my periods are less heavy and not so clotty now. I get all the symptoms of PMS, all the cervical changes, i have detected my fertile CM. I have done OPKs which have detected LH surges but i have had false postives. I have only started to chart my BBT. My last chart, i thought that my baseline was 36.6c. The day before assumed ovulation my temp dipped to 36.4c but the following day peaked to 36.8c and my temp remained between 36.7-9 consistantly for 12 days. However i started my period on what would of only been day 9 of my luteal phase. My temp did not start to drop until day five of my period which it then went down to 36.4c but has started to creep back up to 36.6c-7c. I am now on day 10 of my cycle. I experience ovarian twinges and dull ache and a sharp pain around assumed ovulation which comes and goes for 5 days. It stops then the achyness starts again about three or four days before menses. When period arrives, the ache ceases. 1) Do you think that i could of ovulated despite only a minimal temp rise? (i had all the + OPK's, fertile CM for a week, and this probable temp spike). 2) Could this also been an indicator of a luteal Phase defect? 3) If i did not ovulate but my egg was trying to be released, could there of still been some progesterone released even in small amounts, hence why only a small rise? 4) or if i had ovulated but only had small amounts of progesterone released and due to a possible LP, could this have been another indicator why there was only minimal rise? 5) I have read that PCOS, there is a higher risk of miscarriage. Why is this and how can pregnancy be maintained? 6) I have all the cervical mucus changes during the cycle, non-fertile to the fertile. Also i experience sore, swollen breasts, headaches, bloatedness midcycle to period. With all the PMS symptoms, does this mean that i do ovulate and my possible oestrogen levels are normal? 7) I have had two prolactin blood tests which have been high of which my Specialist believes it is stress induced. my 7dpo progesterone have been low on both occasions. My thryroid test was normal. I am waiting for my FSH and LH levels. What other tests could i request to be undertaken? What concerns me is that i might be started on clomid soon but i want all underlying potential problems to be identified first, so that my PCOS can be managed in turn to increase the effectiveness of Clomid. 8) Do they treat pregnacy in PCOS, high risk? Would they give you Progesterone supplements as routine? Many thanks for answering these questions.
