Long timeFrom: Sally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Feb 2001 16:11:43 -0600 (CST)
I haven't been to the MB in months. As a refresher, I am 23 and diagnosed with PCOS last year. First of all I am very happy to see that I am not the only one upset by Dr. Phil...I was home sick the day he got on Oprah and told a woman it was he fault she was overweight, etc. I was horrified!!! I used to like...not anymore! Secondly, I feel like my body is a warzone! I am so ashamed!!! I can't stand being overweight. And now...I have a rash that won't go away. My doctor thought it was a fungal rash but it wouldn't get better. Now 2 months and hundreds of dollars later I had a biopsy to figure out what is going on. In the meantime they said rashed like this are common in people with diabetes. I have insulin resistance and take Metformin but they tested my blood sugar and it is high!!! So I have to have more tests. Last year I had the GTT and it was fine (according to that doc who I couldn't stand!). I am terrified...if this is what is happening at 23 when most people think I look perfectly healthy, etc...what will it be like in the future! YIKES. Oh, and this is nice... I went for a physical for work (in a hospital). The nurse asked how tall I am...5'6" and how much I weight 173...and said, "Oh girl, you better quit that or your gonna be like me soon!" (she was a rather large woman) I almost died...I felt like crying...I have lost 10 pounds and I am so ashamed of my weight that I don't need her telling me how bad it is!!!!!! Sorry this is so long...just having a rough time right now. Thanks! Sally
