Re: Any advice for a HusbandFrom: ....................................... (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 05 Feb 2001 00:02:19 -0000
Dear poor husband, You are so sweet to care. It is not easy for a husband who has to deal with this or any female illnesses. My expirence with PCOS was I had it for more then 10 years and did not find out about it until a year ago. Of course it was me who told the doctor I might have it. But for 6 years I had been depressed and my doctor put me on Prozac. It works wonderful for me and helps with my depression. I am a happier person because of it. However the energy level is not there. I have let my house work go and my house needs a maid so bad. I work a full time job too and I can not do both. So the house work suffers. Yes my husband helps but he is not good at it either. I will be leaving my job in 4 more years so this is my only hope that keeps me going. I feel once I am out of my job and I can stay home more, I will feel much better. In fact I know I will. I feel much better while I am on vacation and hate going back to work. I take 40 mgs of Prozac a day and I am on Gloucophage. I do not have any children because 10 years ago they removed my uterus for other reasons, too much bleeding, and I had a tumor. Well back then I had the brown spots on my upper thighs and I asked my doctor what it was and he said pigment changes in the skin. DAHHHHHHHH it was the PCOS. So the I guess it was a good thing the Uterus was removed with PCOS undiagnoiced who knows what would of come of it. So anyway, my suggestion, talk to the doctor about your concerns and ask to put your wife on a anti depressant like Prozac. Good luck.
