No, insulin and glucose are not the same thing - definitely connected, but not the same. A low carb diet may or may not help - it certainly won't hurt. You really need to see a doctor who knows about PCOS and can give you a more educated reading of your tests. Many times PCOS sufferers test in the upper normal range. Some PCOS savvy doctors will treat you for insulin resistance without an IGTT, but you should have one. If you are not able or wiling to find a new doctor, you have the option of educating her. There is lots of info here and the ladies can help a lot with understanding what your test results mean. Make sure you always get a copy.
