Anon, You have a lot of things to consider. If you DO want to have children at somepoint and you have trouble conceiving later on, you may carry a heavy burden of regret. I hate regret. But you have to look at your age, your lifestyle, your entire situation to know what is right for you.

All I can do is tell you what happened to me.

The 2nd time I had sex with my husband (March 27, 1997) I got pregnant. We kept the baby and now I have a son that has just turned 3, (Joy of my life.) I wanted to get pregnant again right away because I wanted children close in age and I (frankly)did not enjoy being pregnant and wanted to get the "being pregnant" part of my life over while I was still in my 20's. (I'll be 30 Aug. 31 2001)

We tried to conceive for over 2 1/2 years with fertility treatments and the gamut of meds with no luck. Then by some miracle I did get pregnant and I miscarried the baby in my 10th week as this board knows all too well, I was devastated - still am sometimes. We are still trying but the reality is that we may not be able to do this again??? Who knows.

There is something called secondary infertility where a woman gets pregnant with no problems on her first child but then has a difficult time doing so again. It seems like something you would just take for granted - If I can do it once - why not again? I've just started reading some about this but I know from experience that it may not be easy to conceive a second time.

I was scared out of my wits when I was pregnant - both times. I can imagine how you feel and I wish you the best of luck in making an informed decision. You can certainly email me if you'd like. Whatever you decide it is your right to do what you feel is best. - God Bless.
