Re: dosage of glucophageFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Jan 2001 18:20:16 -0600 (CST)
ok, let me start out by saying that met will not necessarily restore any fertility or ovulation. its main goal is to lower your insulin levels and even out that aspect of PCOS. In many women it does restore periods, but i am not certain about ovulation. it can also help slow hair gorwth and other PCOS symptoms, but this is not true for all women. when one begins met, they should have in mind that it will lower their insulin levels only. the reduction of cessation of other symptoms is a great boon, but is not what the drug is for. that said, the most common dosage of met seems to be about 1500mg per day, although the normal range is from 1000-2000mg per day. the maximum tested dose is 2500mg. hope this helps =) love, paula
