Re: Want to go off the birth control pill....severe PCOS. questionsFrom: paula (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Jan 2001 18:16:04 -0600 (CST)
i dont know how this will fit into your medical situation, but i can tell you that each and everytime i came off a bcp i gained about 50 pounds. i did not have better luck losing weight off the pill than i did on the pill. there are alternatives to induce a period, the one that i use is provera. i think there are a few natural alternatives too, but i dont know much about them. also, since your medical profile is so complicated, if i were you i would aviod naturalistic approaches. i say this because most herbal medications have not been examined by the FDA and some do raise blood pressure and others may have effects we are not sure about. with your medical issues, i would be leary of trying anything that had not been fully researched and explored. it is not that i am against natural medications, but i wouldn't want to risk throwing my body more out of whack. hope this helps =) love, paula
