Re: ***BIG NEWS*** & can someone give advice?From: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 25 Jan 2001 14:20:19 -0500
Congratulations! Now you know for sure and you can take charge of your health care. I wouldn't be too angry about the diagnosis and subsequent time elapsed. There has only recently been any kind of concensus on PCOS and potential treatment. As you probably know, the Glucophage that is being prescribed for PCOS now is STILL only being done off-label. The FDA has not approved Insulin Sensitisers for PCOS treatment. There are still many of our cysters out there who's doctors are giving them BCP and sending them home. It is probable that your doctor didn't know of any effective treatment for PCOS, so other than telling you that you had a hormone problem, there seemed to be no point. You probably know more about PCOS than most doctors, so take charge. Get the tests you need and get copies of the results! Share your results with the knowlegeable ladies here. Don't waste your energy on feeling hurt or let down - use it take control of your life and health.
