Angel, LH/FSH and insulin and your doc!

Hey Angel no problem. I am concerned about some of the stuff your doctor is saying, it sounds as though she may not know very much about PCOS. That's not unusual, unfortunately. I went to soooo many doctors who told me I was just fat and to get over it! They don't all know the deal where PCOS is concerned. Like we've said about bcp (I can't remember where it is at the moment, but it's come up a lot recently, just look around) bcp's can help keep some symptoms of PCOS under control AFTER you treat the PCOS with an insulin sensitizer and diet etc. They are NOT, in themselves, a treatment. In fact, many women see their symptoms get worse after being on bcp's. If it were me, and suposing you don't want the bcp's for birth control purposes, I would fight to keep away from them at least until you get your health under control. I mean, you can't even tell if a treatment is working if your symptoms are all masked right?

Secondly I am concerned that your doctor seems to think that Metformin is just a drug for diabetics. It is more than helpful, it is pretty much necessary to help you get healthy again, especially if like me you have hypoglycemia. I mean it's impossible to get the insulin under control if you have to eat every 2 hours right! And of course it's good to not feel like crud all the time.

Yeesh, sorry this is getting so long. Um, talk to your doctor about these things, maybe bring in some medical study info you can print off the internet. If she's not going to budge, I would really look for another doctor. I mean come on, you're paying this person to provide a service to you. If your mechanic kept breaking things in your car, you'd swap - a doctor is no different. I hope it goes well for you!
