I got on disability because my employers and therapist told the SSA that I needed it. I had applied for disability only for severe asthma while still thin around the early 90s. My career was affected then so there were some other factors. I was 450lbs when I got approved and I didnt even have my hypohthyroid diagnosis yet. I sent pictures of me and this helped them see my state of health--had bald spots then etc. There are some hoops to jump through. You ahve to have made a certain amount of income and I think had worked 6 full time in a row years...but its been a while so I may not know all the rules.
