Re: I love carbs, but I need to love them less, HELP!From: lesley (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 10 Jan 2001 10:48:59 -0600 (CST)
I am following the sugarbusters lifestyle, so any of my suggestions should be in the book. 1. Stop drinking full sugar sodas 2. Use brown rice not white - it contains more fibre than white and so takes a little longer to be broken down in your body. 3. Bread - stay away from any bread containing more than 3g of sugar, and make sure it is 100% stoneground wholewheat bread. This has the most fibre. 4. Pineapple and banana are two of the worst fruits to eat as they are easily converted into sugars and absorbed into the blood stream. 5. Stop eating anything with more than 3g of sugars per portion. Sugars may be labled as sugar (white or brown), high fructose corn syrup, molasses and honey. I think I may have missed afew, but it gives you a general idea. UNLESS what you are eating is made with milk or fruit as both of these contain natural sugars. 6. Far too easily digested veggies to avoid are potatoes, corn (including popcorn cornbread and cornmeal/cornflour), beets and carrots. 7. Forget most of those dos and donts of low fat dieting, instead increase the amounts of protein you eat, enjoy that cheese and eggs and cheesecake (made within the rules of low carbing) as the low fat nonsense may have made the pcos worse due to its encouragement of eating lots of carbs. Try reading a few more of the different diets and work out a system which is good for you and one that you can follow. Good luck
