hi paula,
My RE agrees with your assessment of low-carbing and taking met - not
good on the kidneys. However, since you are not seeing the results you
would like with met, there is another option. My RE has suggested that
I could reduce my met dose (not quit) and add avandia. They work
differently in the body and do not interfere with each other.
Met works in the intesine before your food is digested, Avandia works
after absorbtion. However, avandia is known to cause weight gain. Not
in everyone, of course, but it is more common than losing with avandia.
You might want to consider adding the avandia rather than abandoning met
altogether. You can always drop the met later if it doesn't work.
luck and love, SusieQ
