ok im on met, i have been for a long time, about a year. i do not low-carb with it because according to my doctor (and stuides he has shown me that i have read) low-carbing and met combined is very unhealthy for the kidneys. i know alot of you wont believe that, and that's ok, but im convinced lol, so i dont want to debate that...but...i also was comparing the side effects and drug interactions of both met and avandia because the met hasn't been working for me really. i have totally stopped losing weight in the past several months, my cycles have not resumed and essentially i have had very little of the good side effects of met. i am going to the doctor on tuesday, i am going to request a fasting insulin test and a change in drug.

among the side effects listed with avandia is increase in fertility in insulin resistant women. it is not listed in side effects for met. also i read that met interacts with my blood pressure med and the diratic im on as well, advandia doesn't, so i am hoping the doc will approve this change.

now, my question for those of you who have been on both, do you know the difference in cost between the two? i dont have to pay for it out of pocket, but im trying to determine whether my insurance will cover the avandia (they are very picky). so if you know the difference in cost, or know where i can find it, i would greatly appreciate it...

OH! also, for those of you on avandia, what is the normal dosage? i know that for met it is between 1000-2500 mg, most common being 1500mg, but i have no idea about avandia.

thanks! love, paula
