Tommorrow's dr's appt.From: Angie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 4 Jan 2001 23:01:30 -0600 (CST)
Hi Everyone! I have been on here before but not in a while. I have been waiting to get home from university for the holidays to see my family doctor. I am 24 and was diagnosed with PCOS when i was 19. Some of you may have already heard my story but i will tell you again before asking for advice before i go tomorrow to my dr. I was told by a gynocologist that i had PCOS (after only having a PAP). My only symptom was irregular menstrual cycles - i would have only one or two periods a year. I had no acne, body hair or weight problems. He told me to go on the pill and see him when and if i ever wanted to get pregnant because i would need fertility drugs. I am now in Health Science at University and have come across many startling details of PCOS....i.e. risk of TypeII Diabetes, Cervical Cancer, Heart Disease......what is this? No one ever told me of this!! So, i need advice...i feel like i should have undergone more tests....blood work? Ultrasound? ANYTHING!!! I will see my family DR. tomorrow and i really need advice on a) what tests i need ot request and b)what type of specialist i need to see! I hope that some of you will have some great advice for me.....god knows i need it!! Take care of yourselves,
-- Angie
