Re: errrrrrr...another yeast infectionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netSat, 30 Dec 2000 19:09:31 EST
I get them at the beginning of my period. And if I have to be off my met and then get back on, I get the WALKING YEAST FROM HELL. I have finally figured out that it happens to me everytime I have to stop my med for something, pregnancy ,surgery. Several of my RN friends tell their pt's to eat plain yogurt and with their kids and antiobiotics they give a spoon or two of the yogurt just like a regular med. It helps to prevent the yeast infection in them. I haven't tried it for my own probs yet, but plan to. I know this is kind of gross, but there is someone that comes into the ER all the time complaining of "itching and burning" She is an older lady and also has chronic dryness from hormonal imbalances. She is prescribed cream after cream and never or only partially uses them. An RN friend of mine told her to douche with Dannon yogurt. The lady did it and said it really helped her. I don't know if I would go to that extreme, I guess it would depend on how bad I hurt. But truly, this little lady had kept the worse yeast you could imagine. She was hit by a car once, and when the ambulance brought her in......The nurse asked "where are you hurting" she replied "I'm itching and burning". She was ok, no broken bones or such. But this girl that swears by it is an extremely intelligent and top of the line nurse. I don't know if she found this out from personal experience or what, but it worked for the little lady. thanks, glenda
