I was diagnosed with PCOS a little over 2 years ago. I had been completely regular with my cycle for 10 years, and all of a sudden stopped completely. I gained 80 lbs in less than a year, and have all the other classic symptoms of PCOS...hair, weight, etc...But recently, in the last few months I have begun my cycle again, but it is horrible. It lasts anywhere between 3 and 5 weeks and goes from light to extremely heavy back to light, back to heavy for these weeks. Then it goes away for a week or two just to start up again. My DR is no help. If anyone else has ever experienced this please let me know. I am not on any meds that would affect it.
