PCOS without high blood pressure?From: Kathy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Dec 2000 17:01:14 -0600 (CST)
I have a bunch of the symptoms of PCOS based on the quiz on the PCOSA site (see below). When I broached the subject with my doctor, he said I couldn't have PCOS since my blood pressure usually isn't elevated (normally about 125/85). He dismissed me without listening to my symptoms. I had multiple ovarian cysts and endometriosis removed at 34, went into perimenopause, and gained a tremendous amount of weight at that time. Since then, I've developed acne (never had as a teenager), dark hairs on my face, neck and navel area, skin tags, brown patches on my abdomen, underarms and chest, thinning hair on my head, the weight gain has continued . . . and diagnosed with clinical depression. I started having migraines at age 12. Should I pursue this further or is he right and PCOS can be definitively ruled out?
