HELP! Undiagnosed PCOS and bad acne/skin conditionFrom: Chris (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 20 Dec 2000 14:44:38 -0600 (CST)
My wife more or less certainly has PCOS (one period in 9 months), and is due to have scans. In the meantime her skin complexion has worsened badly; she has red blotches, spots, etc, and is caught in a vicious circle of not wanting to worsen the problem with make-up, but not wanting to be seen by anyone, as she feels hideously ugly (compunded by obsessive cleanliness and mood-swings associated i believe with PCOS). She's constantly upset/tearful/depressed, and what i really would like to know from anyone's experiences: -How soon do things return to 'normal' after PCOS is diagnosed -How soon do test results return once a scan has been taken -How soon can my wife expect her skin problems to return to normal -Is there any recommended 'quick fixes' for treating her skin problems. Scan is soon, 28/12/00, but with Xmas coming up soon, she is distraught, and it's breaking my heart to see her this way. I feel totally helpless, and would be grateful for *any* advice. Thanks,
-- Chris (UK)
