In what organ does PCOS originate? or do they know????From: ALicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 13 Dec 2000 17:18:06 -0600 (CST)
Ive read that the if the ovaries are taken out this doesnt help. Ive been told that if I had my adrenals taken out that wouldnt work---Id actually rather have Addisons--the results of no adrenals then severe PCOS trust me. My doctor then told me there are worse problems than severe obesity. I didnt agree! I have hyperadrenalism too. but no tumors found so far and no cushings because my cortisol is low. My doc has told me I actually have to watch out for adrenal failure because I may have polyglandular autoimmune disorder. This could be likely. My father died of an undiagnosed endocrine autoimmune disorder one that leaves calcium deposits. Addisons or saliosis? I believe it is called. So is it the pancreas (I know this makes insulin) or the hypothalyamus/pitutiary axis giving us this trouble? Perhaps it is a mishap within the hypothalymus concerning the secretion of insulin. I am curious. Where does it orginate. I beleive too that PCOS leads to weight gain not the other way around. I was still thin when my first symptons started of no periods and severe ancothis nigorisis. Im no scientist so forgive me for the wording of some of this post. I know this is a hard question. They may not even know........
