Hi,

I've pulled the entire thread of messages both yesterday and today from the archives and digest related to the two rude and juvenile anonymous messages sent to the forum yesterday morning. All the other messages were in response to those messages or responses to responses.

We will pull off-topic messages and messages that do not meet the forum guidelines found at http://forums.obgyn.net/pcos/rules.html

If you need assistance with a OBGYN.net forum write editorial@obgyn.net or webmaster@obgyn.net. It is not necessary and in fact just causes more problems replying to the problem in the forum as we just witnessed.

We allow anonymous postings on the OBGYN.net support forums to encourage dialogue and allow people to post personal information they normally would not place in a public forum. But this feature can also be abused. If that happens write editorial@obgyn.net or webmaster@obgyn.net and we will take care of it.

Regarding MAC addresses, a MAC address is a very long alpha-numerical unique identifier for your network interface card (NIC) that connects your computer to a local area network (LAN). Not important except the term was used and people were asking what it means.

It is sometimes possible to trace anonymous messages to their original source. But, typically we would not do that. An ISP should not give out identifying information for it's customers without a court order. We had a case a few months ago were we did trace a women to the Scandinavian Countries to get her medical attention because she was perhaps contemplating suicide but that is a very unusual situation.

We do place filters to stop UCE (unsolicited commercial email) and SPAM from reaching the forums. We do also filter out individuals when there is a reason. But, we don't like to do this.

Hope that ends the problem and explains the various issues.

Bruce
