NEW DOCTOR RESULTSFrom: Angel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 1 Dec 2000 07:43:03 -0600 (CST)
Well, i went to my new doctor yesterday. i just want to get everyone's opinion on what she said. she said that pcos is a big deal. she said what she does is treat all her patients with pcos individually depending on what symptoms they present with. for instance, with me she said she wouldn't recommend metformin or similar drugs because i don't present with any of the diabetic symptoms. in fact my blood sugar problem is the opposite of diabetes. i have hypoglycemia. she recommends for me because my case is mild, to alter my diet to low carbs, high protein to regulate my blood sugar. and since my only other problem with the pcos is excess hair, she ran blood work to test my hormone levels. she wants me to take bcp to regulate my cycles and help with the hair. because my periods are not that irregular (i get one every month and 1/2 or so) she says that bcp would be better than stronger meds. after looking at my pictures from my laparoscopy she said my ovaries are definetly polycystic and i do have endometriosis. she said the bcp will also help with endometriosis. so, bear in mind this is what my nervous brain comprhended from my trip. let me know what ya'll thing! love, angel
