Hi Krista. I see that others have answered about the "hormone" side of PCOS. I just wanted to comment on the hyster side of things. I had a hyster on 7/27 due to severe endometrial hyperplasia - the precursor to cancer. I definitely still have PCOS! Because of the lack of periods we are at a higher risk for endo cancer because our linings don't shed often enough. Mine was way to thick and when af arrived it never shed enough. I also had one of my ovaries removed because of severe pain. My left one seems to be working fine. PCOS is a misnamed disorder. It doesn't start in the ovaries but somewhere within the endocrine system. So far research points to problems with insulin. That is why many of us are on insulin senstizers, to help get that hormone under control and hopefully the others will follow. Cystic ovaries are just one of the many sypmtoms of this disorder.

Hope this helps! Kim At Thu, 30 Nov 2000, Krista wrote: >
