my weight 'experiment'From: Alicia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Nov 2000 09:37:26 -0600 (CST)
Over the last 3 years I've managed to get diagnosed with PCOS, lose the 30lbs I had gained, learn to eat in a way that doesn't aggravate the insulin levels, get over my addiction to carbs and sugary things and have all my unexplicable acne of 3 years ago dissappear. I'm 5'6'' and have maintained a weight of 120-125 for 3 years. I've recently moved and I guess adjusting to a new routine and going out more often and having a few social drinks has thrown my metabolism out of whack again. I've gained about 8lbs and now am at 130. Right at this point I started to feel the same unstable blood sugar swings/cravings and tiredness again. AND some of my acne came back. Needless to say I can't go back to those horrible days, especially after feeling so great so I'm back on track. But I thought it was interesting that there is a certain weight point for me where everything seems to go haywire. And as long as I'm below it, things are under control. I know some of you have been told by your doctors that losing weight will help. It helped me tremendously, although a challenge sometimes to maintain. (It hasn't helped with everything though. The hair was stubborn to any treatment. Now a combo of spirono and Vaniqa is helping.)
