Hysterectomy Time...From: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 29 Nov 2000 12:55:29 -0800
Coming out of lurk mode to Vent.... ;-) After suffering for 18 years of pain, missing periods, pain, hair and acne on my face, pain, uncontrollable weight gain, PAIN, hyperpigmented skin, and well... pain, ;-) I finally am facing the big H. That's right ladies, I'm going for a hysterectomy. Last week an ultrasound revealed a "suspicious ovary"--there is a huge cyst that has been horrendously painful, on the exterior of the surface.... and something inside of it. The Gyn's carefully-chosen words were "We need to watch this very closely for the next month or two..." I said I didn't want to wait to see if it would burst, and asked him to just get it, ALL of it, the hell out of my body. After seeing the expression on his face, I knew that's what he really wanted to do anyway--and he was relieved that I was okay with that option. I never wanted kids anyway so fertility has never been an issue. I'm scared at the thought of having surgery but optimistic that the end result will be fewer trips to the Doctor for such repetitive issues as missing periods, ovary pain, and birth control pills (for a girl who couldn't get pregnant ANYWAY!). So, Merry Christmas to me--Santa's bringing me a scalpel this year which means (bad joke alert!) The turkey won't be the ONLY thing being carved this holiday season! Pray for a speedy recovery... -Annie
