Re: i need to vent and ask questionsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 29 Nov 2000 12:51:20 -0800
Angel, I swear, I think we had the same doctor. <grin> The whole "PCOS, oh, it's not a big deal..." is eerily reminiscent of what I went through. I had no clue; I knew that a few doctors in years prior had muttered similar words but they never figured it was an issue since I had no interest in having children. They gave me birth control pills and sent me away. The diagnosis you quoted was almost identical to mine, including the "probable adenomyosis" part and the prolapse. What was additional to my diagnosis, though, was the finding of endometrial hyperplasia... the reason why every time I had a pelvic exam or even had intercourse, I BLED! Losing your faith in doctors seems to be a regular issue with me. I finally did find some decent ones, my gyn is well-versed in PCOS as is my RE. My family doc isn't--but he's okay with having the other two "on the team", so to speak. Get on the phone and call around to other doctors. Talk to the nurses and find out if that doctor is experienced in the latest techniques for treating PCOS. That's what I did, and that's how I found my docs. Good luck!!! -Annie
