Metformin 'XL'?

I was just on a PCOS board at the site "Babycenter.com" and someone there said their doctor is putting them on a new form of Metformin called Metformin XL. She said it's a 500mg pill you take once a day, but it acts like 1500mg.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Thanx! Cassandra
