Melissa...
You have to do whatever treats YOU best. If there is one thing I have learned it
is that I need to be in control of my body...not all 6 RE's, not the nutritionist,
dietitian or the GYN's...ME! I also saw a nutritionist and a dietitian. Both of
them had me keeping a food diary and eating a "balanced menu" each day. Guess
what? I gained weight. Now, please don't get me wrong...I'm not saying that this
wouldn't work for others. It just didn't work for me. For me, a diet low in
carbs has worked wonders. And, I'm not someone who has 10,20,30,40,50 or even 80
lbs to lose...I have more than that. However, I found that so far I have been
successful with this way of life and I'm not about to change that for any
physician who wants to tell me I'm doing things the wrong way. I also felt as
though I was always starving when I tried to eat what the nutritionist &
dietitians said. Not only this, but I also found myself THINKING about food more
often (which can be just as bad as eating sometimes)!! Now, I am completely
satisfied all day long. Sometimes, I'll have lunch at 1PM and then, I'll have to
remind myself about dinner at about 830PM!!! No kidding! I'm just not hungry
like I had always been for so many years! I feel great, I sleep better & I'm a
much happier person..not to mention that I've lost two sizes too! Anyway, this is
only MY story. I'm sure there are others out there who will say that low-carb does
not work for them and that a "well-balanced" diet does. You need to figure out
what is best for you. Perhaps, you could try their recommendation for awhile...if
you just don't like it, find yourself feeling even worse or find that you are
gaining weight, you may want to check out the low-carb way. It seems to have
worked for many of us...but, it is truly a personal decision and a change in a big
part of your life. Good luck to you!!
:-) Alexis
