Krista,

I am always sorry to see someone going thru this. I know that most of us have experienced the uncaring attitude of a medical professional at one time or another.

First things first - You need to calm down before you have a major breakdown. I know all of these things are scarey, and you have a right to fear, but they are all controllable. I know how scared I was with all of these symptoms, but I am feeling really good now and am doing a lot better. I never take anything too seriously. You can't or you will go crazy. My favorite saying is "You gotta do, what ya gotta do" and that is the truth. You will see a lot of humor in veterans posts, that is because we have learned that life is not worth living if you are not LIVING! Do not let this run your life.

You need to know that BCP's are not for everyone with PCOS. I did not suffer any problems with my PCOS until I started taking BCP's, when I started taking them ALL of those horrible symptoms attacked me at once and I gained a HUGE amount of weight. I know there are certain BCP's that work better for PCOS sufferors than others, but I refuse to use any of them.

Do you have insurance? If you do they should pay for a referral to an endo. If your doctor is giving you trouble about giving you a referral you need to let him know you have a right to the best medical care possible and if he is not able to give it he has an obligation to refer you to someone that can.

Lastly get rid of that doctor you currently have. I know it sounds like alot of trouble, but it is worth it in the end. The horror stories I and a lot of the women on this board can tell you would convince you in a heartbeat. If you are not able to change docs, then do what i did. I went thru the archives and printed out posts from several people and gave them to my doc, just to show the pain we sufferor is not only infertility and a little facial hair (be sure to remove the person's name).

This disease demands we become proactive about our medical treatment. If someone is not taking you seriously than you go somewhere else. I would post where you are located, sometimes the women here can give you the name of a good doc located near you, also check and see if you have a local support group for PCOS in you area, I have one and they were great when I was first diagnosed and scared.

Try http://www.pcosupport.org for a list of local chapters.

If you need ANYTHING feel free to email me personally, I am always glad to help a cyster in need :)

TTFN
