... VERY WORRIED!!From: Krista (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 20 Nov 2000 08:58:56 -0600 (CST)
Hello - I'm going to *try* to make this short because honestly I'm VERY concerned about things and could probably ramble on for PAGES. I am a 24 year old who just within the past 5 months has had a FAST ONSET of symptoms comparable to those seen in PCOS patients --- hirsuitism, acne, hair loss and difficulty in losing weight. All of these symptoms have been of the mild degree, and when I saw my doctor, he told me that he thought I might have PCO and that because my symptoms are mild, that the birth control pill should help. I've been "double dosing" on the pill for three months now --- and I've seen none of my symptoms disappear, my hair loss now goes in cycles of some nature, and I *think* I'm developing new symptoms. Problem with all of this is that the doctor I've been seeing doesn't seem to want to bother with me --- I set myself up to pay out of pocket with an endocrinologist because I've stopped sleeping at night worrying about this MESS ... but the most recent thing that happened has scared me and I can't wait to see the specialist without a *little* peace of mind (hopefully). I have PAIN ... in my abdominal area ... on a sporadic basis. Its like what I imagine menstral cramping would feel like, but I've ABSOLUTELY NEVER had menstral cramps before and it is happening at ALL times in my "pill cycle," not just the "PMS" times. I am honestly frightened out of my mind about it and feel as if I have no where to turn for answers. Should I INSIST on seeing someone about this NOW?? My doctor makes me feel as if I'm overreacting ... his unconcern is HORRENDOUS --- and it actually angers me to a GREAT degree. If this were a man growing breasts or something like that, he'd be seeing every specialist in the world ... but I'm just a woman turning into a man --- who cares about that, right? WHAT CAN I DO and what should I do? I'm sorry this was so long and would just GREATLY appreciate ANY peace of mind anyone could offer. Thanks in advance ... krista grace
