Regarding indigestion/diarhea: Interestingly, one of the theories that Dr. Thacker lists in his book (PCOS: The Hidden Epidemic) is that the success of met for PCOS is: that the gastric distubance and discomfort caused by met (if you ingest too many carbs), serves as a sort of "aversion therapy." I don't know if I buy it, but it was interesting to read. Another explanation he offers for the disturbance is that your body is "dumping" the extra carbs instead of converting them to fat.... If that's true, I think I'll try to endure.

This book is facinating! I took it with me to the doctor yesterday and she asked to xerox the pages on met. I was thrilled to have her so interested and to be able to help her help others.
