Re: Let's Start a Personal History File for Others to use in getting Diagnosed..From: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Nov 2000 10:57:56 -0600 (CST)
Jo-Nita, I think you are definately on the right track here, There was a time over the summer when I was emailing out something like that to a few different women. Something else that I think is a GREAT tool, is the 3 part 'booklet' series that you can print from the PCOS Support website, it is something along the lines of 1. Do you have PCOS? - a questionaire & summary of PCOS with a scoring guide for various symptoms, 2. Diagnosing PCOS and 3. What to bring to a Doctor's appt. about PCOS. I know treatment is discussed as well. I might have this slightly different than it actually reads but you get the idea. The scoring and the guide for what tests to be run I think are particularly good, I think if a woman were to combine this with a good article on PCOS and Insulin Resistance, and the latest treatment protocols she would be in a very good starting place to get help. If we could keep the materials as "objective" as possible I think that more doctors would be open to reading them. Maybe we could post to this forum something like: "Seeing your Doctor about PCOS diagnosis" Include a link to a few articles, and the PCOS booklets and a list of questions to ask the doctor under that subject, then we could always refer 'newbies' there. What do you think? At Thu, 16 Nov 2000, Jo-Nita wrote: > >There have been so many posts lately about women trying to gather >information to take to their doctors in an effort to get diagnosed.
