Concern for daughterFrom: Barb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 16 Nov 2000 08:54:19 -0600 (CST)
I have 2 daughters. One is having trouble conceiving. The other has classic and rather severe symptoms of PCOS. She's 22 years old and has (in the last few years) lost some of her hair, had facial and body hair, and rather few if any menstrual periods. We have been to many doctors, including a dermatologist, an obgyn and 2 endocrinologists. She's been on birth control pills for at least 2 years. During that time, she was told to add Aldactone, Minoxodil, and Glucophage with bad or no results. The new endocrinologist said (since she couldn't take Glucophage) to try a lower dose of birth control. The doctor felt she was on too high a dose (Zovia 1/35). So, the obgyn reluctantly gave my daughter Levlite. It's been 2 months and all the symptoms are returning. We called the endocrinologist who recommended the change, and we were virtually dumped. So, we called the obgyn who happily put her back on Zovia. We pray that someone at this forum can give us some advice on what to do next. We have read up on this disorder, but without a doctor who knows what they're doing it's all so confusing! Thanks, Barb
